There are moments during the day when inspirational words, sounds, or visions spark my imagination and ease the stress of a difficult task, unexpected news, or the daily concerns we are all facing at this time.
I don’t know about you, but the daily impact of climate change, ongoing wars, famine, rape, and other war crimes, and a palpable atmosphere of hatred, especially during the current election cycle in the US, have me, and many others i know, stressed to the limit.
My belief is that the remedy for stress is through exercising the power our imagination. I’ve experienced this as the most direct and desirable route to create a desired outcome.
Like a child imagining the creation of a toy from randomly scattered pieces of small objects, we, too, are able to engage our imagination to create our dreams, what we desire for an outcome. During these pivotal times when the viability of our planet and all its inhabitants are at risk, our imagination plays a crucial role in creating a world in which we choose to live. It’s important for us to weave our random moments of joy, the pleasure of watching a child at play, the unexpected beauty of a tree ablaze in autumn colors, the warmth of a hug, or the sound of our favorite song into a vision of a world at peace. It is possible if we pay attention to the freely-given gifts of the day.
No matter our worries or fears, now is the time to gather our creative energies to imagine a prosperous future of equality, justice, and equanimity, peace and a brighter, love-filled future.
Join me today by engaging your imagination. Create any form of art whether its arranging sticks on the beach, making a delicious meal, writing, dancing, singing, reading, or through being immersed in the abundantly available vibrant energy of the outdoors.
As you excercise the power of your imagination, let love fill the air!
Love is the remedy, imagination is the cure! Together we can do this!

LATEST NEWS: my manuscript is taking shape as I incorporate my editors changes and suggestions. That’s nearly always a much larger and longer task than most writers, even the most famous amongst us, envision.
My editor and I are hopefully meeting in person, if we can make it work during the holiday season, sometime during December; the latest time would be mid-January. My hope is that she and I will have the MS buttoned up and ready for publishing early in the first quarter of 2025.
Many of you have waited a long time to read this memoir; I thank you for your patience.
In other news: if you have interest in the purchase of a shaman drum, I’m helping a friend sell a two-sided, hand-held, buffalo drum, and a log drum, typically used for ceremonies.
If you’d like more details, please email me at dorycote@gmail.com and I will provide you with further information and photos of each drum.
Blessings, until later…
Dory
I've been cooking recently. One of my go-to stress-relief/creativity practices! And a welcome balance to writing.
Rehearsing the Faure Requiem in preparation for the 10:00 and 3:00 masses at St. Luke’s next Sunday 11/3/24 temporarily erases my tension!
