I too am a friend of Ben, who has taught me to look at things through my viewfinder with new eyes. As a spiritual person, I want to share with you that you need to look no further than within yourself for the Light. As emanations of the Creator Spirit, we are all the Light. We can be nothing less. It's unfortunate that some people choose to hide or deny their Light. The rest of us just have to shine all that brighter!
Beautiful post, Dory, and thanks for the reference to Ben. As a landscape photographer myself, I always love to see what others are doing in this genre. I love those scraggly, resilient, oh-so-strong trees perched on rocks by the sea, on mountaintops and in the forests, I'm always photographing and drawing them, too!
I certainly agree with you about not "dwelling" on past sufferings; but I do believe in engaging in a purposeful exploration of the past in order to better understand life lessons learned, which may help others when shared. Your memoir is certainly in that category, and I can't wait to see it moving out strongly into the world!
